World Water Day 2014

World Water Day 2014 was held at Taman Rekreasi Kuari Taman Botani Pulau Pinang (Just Beside Penang Botanic Gardens) on 19 April 2014. This activity was involved kids, children and students in drawing competition to increase their awareness and love towards our precious water resource. Besides, water related games and activities were designed for adults as well. Those activities and games ( Water Droplet face painting, Snake and Ladder water quiz, Button Badge water friendly talk and Water word games) indirectly instilling the importance of water conservation to the participants. The World Water Day was officially opened by Y.A.B. Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister of Penang and attended by opened by Ir Jaseni Maidinsa, PBA General Manager. Other VIPs included Y.Bhg. Prof Dato’ Anwar Fazal (WWP Advisor), YB Lim Hock Seng, YB Phee Boon Poh, Professor Dr Chan Ngai Weng (President of Water Watch Penang).
The participants learned about the importance of water, were made more aware about water and its relationship to the environment, and generally enjoyed the day’s activities with their families and friends. The participants are expected to be more sensitised towards water conservation and related water issues in Penang. The profiles of both WWP and PBAPP Sdn Bhd were also raised. There was some organisations taking part in Water Exhibition – PBAPP Sdn Bhd. WWP, SPAN, Malaysian Nature Society (Penang Branch), Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran (Penang State), Department of Environment (Penang State), Indah Water Konsortium, Ecoclean Technology Sdn Bhd, BJIM USM, Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGOs), River & Urban Drainage Research Centre USM, School of Humanities USM .SPAN (Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara).
