On August 10th, 2024, Water Watch Penang (WWP) participated in an exhibition on Canteen Day hosted by SK Kongsi. The main objective of this invitation by SK Kongsi, was to provide an avenue for the students to learn about water education in Penang. The exhibition was actively organised by WWP’s Executive Manager, Dr. Hong Chern Wern, along with two Education Officers, Ms. Atiqah and Ms. Fatin Azahara and three interns, Ms. Fatin Amira, Ms. Husna, and Ms. Khor Ci Shan.

“NEGALITRES UNTUK SEKOLAH” Program Pendidikan Sungai dan Air di SK Sungai Setar – 20 Jun 2024
Pada 20 Jun 2024, Persatuan Pengamatan Air Pulau Pinang telah berjaya menganjurkan Program Pendidikan Sungai dan Air di Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Setar, Nibong Tebal. Program ini melibatkan 292 orang pelajar dari Darjah 1 hingga Darjah 6 serta dua orang guru, bermula dari pukul 10.30 pagi hingga 12.00 tengah hari. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, Pengurus Eksekutif persatuan bersama dengan dua pelajar latihan industri, Cik Nur Fatin Azahara dan Cik Nur Atiqah, serta bantuan daripada sukarelawan RASMA, Encik Shaughn telah menyampaikan ceramah yang menarik dan berfaedah. Sesi ini dimulakan oleh Dr. Hong dengan pengenalan umum tentang persatuan dan aktiviti-aktiviti yang telah dijalankan oleh Persatuan Pengamatan Air Pulau Pinang untuk menarik minat pelajar. Dr. Hong juga menekankan bahawa SK Sungai Setar juga merupakan salah satu daripada seratus sekolah yang terlibat “Program Negalitres untuk Sekolah”

On May 7th, 2024, Water Watch Penang was privileged to be invited to deliver an environmental talk titled ‘Our Household Water Consumption and How to Use Them Wisely,’ as part of Intel Malaysia Safety Week. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the Executive Manager of WWP, led the presentation, assisted by interns Ms. Atiqah and Ms. Fatin.
Dr. Hong commenced the session by outlining WWP’s objectives, achievements, and past initiatives. He highlighted Intel’s partnership with WWP on the achievement of Negalitres for Schools Programme and Intel River Ranger Programme. Dr. Hong also shown to the participants that despite Penang’s classification as a water-poor region, it experiences significant water wastage due to the remarkably low domestic tariff.

‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOL’ : RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME AT SMJK PHOR TAY, BAYAN LEPAS – 29TH APRIL 2024
The ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme was successfully organised at SMJK Phor Tay on April 29, 2024 by Water Watch Penang (WWP). Running from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM, 205 students and 2 teachers were actively participated in the event. The program’s objectives were to introduce students to the importance of responsible water consumption and then explore local and worldwide water concerns. It was led by WWP Programme Officer Mr. Hanson Yeoh and supported by WWP intern Ms. Nur Atiqah.

On April 25th, 2024, Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully organized the ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Teluk Kumbar, Bayan Lepas. The program engaged more than 700 students from 8.00 am until 9.30 am. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, WWP’s Executive Manager, along with interns Ms. Fatin Azahara and Ms. Nur Atiqah, led the session, supported by WWP intern Mr. Dane Lim Chiu Tong and Mr. Hanson Yeoh, the WWP Programme Officer.
