On 14 August 2024, the ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme was successfully organized at Sekolah Menengah Sains Tun Syed Sheh Shahabudin by Water Watch Penang (WWP). The program ran from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM during the Co-curriculum Day and involved nearly 600 students from Form 1 to Form 4, along with one teacher. The aims of the program were to highlight the importance of reducing water consumption and to increase students’ awareness of global and regional water issues.

Networking Trip with UKM, Short River Education Programme at Taman Jajar, Pulau Pinang – 20th May 2024.
On May 20th, 2024, Water Watch Penang (WWP) hosted a successful short river education program for students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) as part of their Networking Trip to Taman Jajar Sungai Ara. The program engaged a diverse group of participants, including nine UKM students, three international students from USM, and Dr. Ang Wei Lun, UKM Leader from the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Mou Leong, Vice President of Water Watch Penang, followed by a brief overview of WWP’s crucial sustainability initiatives.

Untuk julung-julung kalinya, pada 18 Mei 2024, Jenoba Outdoor dan Persatuan Pengamatan Air Pulau Pinang (Water Watch Penang – WWP) telah bekerjasama menganjurkan Program Pendidikan Air dan Sungai , Nature Edutour: River Scientist di Belukar Bukit Bukit Kayak Adventure Park, Terengganu. Program ini telah disertai 14 peserta yang berusia 13 hingga 17 tahun dari komuniti penduduk Kampung Belukar Bukit Kayak, bersama wakil dari Jenoba Outdoor iaitu Encik Mohd Najib Bin Alias, Encik Mohamad Faizal Bin Sulong dan Encik Ahmad Najmi Bin Mat Zaik.

On May 7th, 2024, Water Watch Penang was privileged to be invited to deliver an environmental talk titled ‘Our Household Water Consumption and How to Use Them Wisely,’ as part of Intel Malaysia Safety Week. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the Executive Manager of WWP, led the presentation, assisted by interns Ms. Atiqah and Ms. Fatin.
Dr. Hong commenced the session by outlining WWP’s objectives, achievements, and past initiatives. He highlighted Intel’s partnership with WWP on the achievement of Negalitres for Schools Programme and Intel River Ranger Programme. Dr. Hong also shown to the participants that despite Penang’s classification as a water-poor region, it experiences significant water wastage due to the remarkably low domestic tariff.

Salcon Water Watch Penang Training of Trainers: Smart Water Programme – 4th May 2024, Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara
A productive collaboration between Salcon Engineering Berhad and Water Watch Penang led to the organization of Training of Trainers (TOT) programme on May 4, 2024, at Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara, KL. The event was participated by 11 teachers from various schools, including SJKT Ladang Effingham, Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Sunway, SK Puncak Perdana, SMK Damansara Utama, and SK Subang Bestari 2, alongside representatives from Salcon Berhad which are Ms. Anita, Assistant Manager for Corporate Affairs, and Mr. Ching Yaw Ying, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Executive.
