21 September 2022- Water Watch Penang (WWP) dengan kerjasama Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai menganjurkan program pendidikan sungai di SMK Jalan Damai yang memenuhi misi dan visi WWP iaitu untuk mewujudkan masyarakat jimat air dan untuk mendidik dan mengubah orang ramai supaya menjadi masyarakat bijak menggunakan air serta berdaya tahan iklim. Program ini disertai oleh seramai 40 orang pelajar yang terdiri daripada pelajar tingkatan 5 dan 3 orang guru.

‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’ – River and Water Education Program at Union High School – 20th September 2022
20 September 2022: Water Watch Penang (WWP) organised a river and water education program at SMJK Union High. The programme was joined by a total of 90 Form 1 students and 3 teachers.
Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the Executive Manager of Water Watch Penang commenced by giving a briefing on WWP’s background and aim for hosting this programme to commence educational talk session. He then introduced main activities and competitions held annually by WWP.

On the 15th of September 2022, a Training of Trainers (TOT) Programme for teachers of for Green Educator’s Workgroup (GREW) took place at SMK Pulau Tikus. A total of 14 teachers from different schools of Penang participated in this programme, held at the ‘Mind Mastery Centre’, hosted by SMJK Convent Pulau Tikus.
GREW is one of WWP’s partner in the ‘Negalitres for School’s Programme’. Thus, the main objective of this programme was to train the teachers from GREW so that they can be facilitators in their respective school, thus creating multiplying effects of educators who are trained and passionate in river and water education.

2nd September 2022: Water Watch Penang has conducted “Negalitres for Schools” education programme at SJKT Ladang Malakoff participated a total of 123 students ranging from standard 1 to standard 6 together with 11 teachers.
Mr. Linges Navamney, the alumnus of SJKT Ladang Malakoff and the secretary of Water Watch Penang (WWP), was the day’s facilitator. The whole session was conducted in the Tamil Language Since which is the primary language at this school. Mr. Linges started with an introduction to WWP’s history and aims, as well as initiatives such as river preservation and conservation efforts, an annual water quiz, World Water Day celebrations, and so forth.
