‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’- RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAM AT SK DATO KRAMAT- 2ND AUGUST 2023

On 2nd August 2023, Water Watch Penang (WWP) organized an educational program on rivers and water at SK Dato Kramat as part of the Negalitres for Schools Programme. The program was attended by a total of 300 students from Standard 4, 5, and 6, along with 5 teachers. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the executive manager of Water Watch Penang, conducted the education session in Bahasa Melayu.

During the session, Dr. Hong began by introducing WWP’s history, objectives, and past activities. He also presented various water-related facts, including global, national, and local water crises, water conservation strategies, and other related issues.

Furthermore, Dr. Hong taught the students how to calculate their household’s daily water consumption from the water bill, enabling them to understand their water usage. He also provided tips on how to conserve water at both school and home while emphasizing the importance of using water wisely for environmental preservation.

RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR SJKC POI ENG PENANG

29th JULY 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully conducted a river and water education programme for SJKC Poi Eng Penang at the Penang Botanic Gardens on 29th July 2023. SJKC Poi Eng is also one of the registered schools under the Negalitres for Schools Programme.

The education programme was an interactive and hands-on practical river activity which aims to educate the participants about the water crisis on a global, regional, and local level, and the essential role of rivers as one of the water resources.

RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR SMK AIR ITAM PENANG IN COLLABORATION WITH THE HABITAT FOUNDATION

27th JULY 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) in collaboration with The Habitat Foundation successfully conducted a river and water education programme for SMK Air Itam Penang at the Penang Botanic Gardens on 27th July 2023.

The education programme was organised by The Habitat Foundation as part of their Field Excursion for Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve (PHBR) Gateways with support from CIMB Islamic. WWP was invited to conduct an interactive and hands-on practical river activity which aims to educate the participants about the water crisis on a global, regional, and local level, and the essential role of rivers as one of the water resources.

‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’: RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME AT SMK CONVENT BUTTERWORTH

26 JULY 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully conducted the ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme for students from SMK CONVENT BUTTERWORTH on 26th July 2023. 

A total of 40 students ranging from Form 1 to Form 5 and a teacher attended this programme from 12.00 pm to 1.30 pm.

The programme commenced with reintroduction of the Negalitres Programme for Schools, to the students and the objectives of this programme. Dr. Hong also introducing WWP’s past and upcoming activities of WWP. Next, as part of awareness raising initiatives, he also presented on the global, national, and local water crisis, water facts, water conservation strategies, and other water-related issues. The programme also included an activity where the students learned how to calculate the daily water consumption per person per day based on PBAPP’s water bill.
