On September 23, 2023, Water Watch Penang (WWP) partnered with SJK(C) Chung Hwa Pusat for a compelling River and Water Education Programme during the school’s lively Mid-Autumn Festival Weekend Market from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The programme attracted a diverse group of 28 participants, including children from kindergarten, primary and secondary students, working adults, and even some housewives who brought their children along.
The presentation commenced with Mr. Hanson Yeoh, WWP’s Programme Officer, providing an introduction to WWP’s historical background, vision, and its ultimate goal of fostering a water-saving society. Following this, Mr. Hanson Yeoh delved into a comprehensive discussion about the global, national, and local instances of water crises and their implications. During his presentation, he utilized the storybook “The Water Princess” to underscore the water crisis experienced by an African nation, emphasizing the importance of appreciating our access to clean drinking water every day. Notably, the kindergarten children in the audience were particularly captivated by this story.
