‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’ River and Water Education Programme at SMJK Convent Datuk Keramat – 1 August 2022

1 August 2022: Another water education program, ‘Negalitres for Schools,’ was hosted by Water Watch Penang (WWP) in the assembly hall of SMJK Convent Datuk Keramat with the participation of 237 students from Form 1 and Form 2, and a total of 16 teachers.

The kickoff of the water education talk was started by Dr. Hong Chern Wern, with the introduction and history of WWP. The rest of the content, including the global and local water issues and water conservation methods, was presented by WWP’s aquatic science intern, Hanson Yeoh.

‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’ River and Water Education Programme at SJK(C) Wen Khai – 29 July 2022

29 July 2022: Water Watch Penang has successfully coordinated a water education program, namely ‘Negalitres for Schools’ at SJK(C) Wen Khai, Bayan Lepas. This primary school is also on the list of Intel Penang-approved schools.

The program involved a considerable number of students and teachers, 450 students, ranging from Standard 1 to Standard 6, and 31 teachers. Dr. Hong Chern Wern was the head facilitator of the program, assisted by an aquatic science intern, Hanson Yeoh, who was currently undergoing facilitator training.

MBSP – ‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’ River and Water Education Programme at SMK Berapit – 27 July 2022

27 July 2022: Water Watch Penang (WWP) managed to run an educational talk with regard to the programme ‘Negalitres for Schools’ for the students in SMK Berapit, Bukit Mertajam. This programme is a co-organized programme between Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) and WWP for the Negalitres for Schools Programme.

The programme involved 30 students, mainly Form 4 and Form 5 students, with two teachers from SMK Berapit. The programme was led by the facilitator, Dr. Hong Chern Wern from Water Watch Penang, with his intern, Hanson providing assistance and learning to be a facilitator. In addition, Ms. Fatin Habsah Binti Ahmad, the Senior Assistant Environmental Health Officer of MBSP, attended the talk as well to see how WWP nourished future leaders regarding the importance of water conservation.

RAINWATER HARVESTING AS A SUPPLEMENTARY WATER SOURCE TALK AT SENTRAL COLLEGE, PENANG – 22 JULY 2022

22 July 2022: As Water Watch Penang (WWP) has prior experience in promoting Rainwater Harvesting technology and its development, Penang Green Council (PGC) invited WWP to give an educational talk about the installation of a Rainwater Harvesting system as a supplementary water resource in tandem with Green Innovation Competition organized at Sentral College, Penang.

More than 40 students and lecturers from Sentral College participated in the talk, including the Principal, Dr. Chiang Geok Lian, and the Project Officer from PGC, who invited WWP for the talk, Mr. Ahmad Uzeir Ahmad Murshid. In addition, Yang Berhormat (YB) Phee Boon Poh attended the event as a special guest. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the Executive Manager of WWP, gave a talk that exposed the participants to the benefits of Rainwater Harvesting, along with his intern, Mr. Hanson Yeoh.

INTEL RIVER RANGER PROGRAMME (CSR PROGRAMME) WITH WATER WATCH PENANG – 14 JULY 2022, QUARRY PARK, PENANG

14 July 2022: In conjunction with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme at INTEL, Water Watch Penang has successfully conducted the River Ranger programme with the participation of INTEL employees at Quarry Park, located in the Botanical Garden of Penang. This event was the second series of the entire programme, where the first was held the month before (28th of June).

A total of 37 participants from INTEL Penang joined the programme, and some of them travelled all the way from outstation for this programme.
