8 MAY 2023 – A total of 300 mangrove trees were successfully planted during a mangrove tree planting activity organised by the American Chemical Society Universiti Sains Malaysia International Student Chapter (ACS USM) at Pusat Pendidikan Kecil Hutan Paya Laut, Sungai Acheh, Nibong Tebal on 6th May 2023.

According to ACS USM, the event titled ‘Earth Day 2023: The Importance of Mangrove Tree’ was held to raise awareness about environmental preservation and sustainability practices, in conjunction with the Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) organised by the American Chemical Society (ACS). The main environmental goal of the event was to preserve the dynamic biological ecosystem in the mangrove forest at Sungai Acheh, Nibong Tebal.

Besides, the event was organised in collaboration with Water Watch Penang (WWP) as the main partner, Penang Inshore Fisherman Welfare Association (PIFWA) and Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM).

3 MAY 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully conducted the ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme for students from SJKC Moh Ghee Cawangan, Penang on 3rd May 2023. 

A total of 90 students ranging from standard one to standard six participated in the programme from 10 am to 12 pm.

WWP Executive Manager Dr Hong Chern Wern commenced the talk by introducing WWP’s history, goals, and past activities. The talk is followed by WWP senior facilitator Ms Ong Ke Shin who presented on the global, national and local water crisis, water conservation strategies, water-saving technologies and other water-related issues.

18^th April 2023 – Water Watch Penang successfully conducted a river and water education programme at Tenby International School, Penang during their launch of STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Maths) week on 17^th and 18^th April 2023.

WWP Executive Manager Dr Hong Chern Wern began the talk by introducing WWP’s history, goals, and past activities. He also explained to the students regarding the water crisis around the world, water treatment processes, water conservation, water-saving technologies and other water-related issues.

13 APRIL 2023 – Water Watch Penang successfully conducted a river and water education programme for students from Green Education Society, Han Chiang High School on 13th April 2023. 

WWP Executive Manager Dr Hong Chern Wern began the programme by introducing WWP’s history, goals, and past activities. He also explained to the students regarding the water crisis around the world, water treatment processes, water conservation, water-saving technologies and other water-related issues.
