Both Atiqah and Fatin are Penangites and they will be joining us from 18th March 2024 until 5th July 2024.
Nur Atiqah Binti Roslan, a dedicated fourth-year student at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), is pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Sustainable Science) with Honours. Her passion lies in environmental sustainability, who actively engages in environmental activities during her studies at UMK. Her commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness sets her apart with practical insights into preserving and protecting the environment for future generations. She is passionate about combating climate change and advocating for sustainable practices.
She actively participates in environmental activities both inside and outside of the classroom while she is a student. She participates in awareness campaigns, beach clean-ups, and tree-planting efforts as a volunteer. Her active participation shows that she is committed to be a positive influence. She participates in studies that involve the analysis of water quality and actively advances scientific understanding.
She is convinced that having an internship with Water Watch Penang (WWP) will provide her the opportunity to get more knowledge about local water issues. Acquiring crucial knowledge on matters such as having access to clean water sources, teaching kids about water conservation in schools, and climate change. She can be actively involved in programmes that teach about rivers and water, increasing Penangites’ awareness of sustainable water usage and conservation.
She can improve her communication skills, interpersonal management, and fieldwork-based learning. These abilities will be extremely useful for her future pursuits. She envisions a career where she can influence communities, drive sustainable practices, and create positive change. Her passion for environmental stewardship fuels her determination to make a difference.
Ms. Nur Fatin Azahara, an undergraduate student at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan’s Jeli Campus who took and learnt Sustainable Science course, is passionate about lab practical and water treatment. She eagerly seeks out new experiences and opportunities for learning, especially during her internship. Her interest in joining Water Watch Penang (WWP) stems from their amazing educational programs, networking opportunities and projects addressing water-related issues in Malaysia, especially Penang. Additionally, she aims to deepen her understanding of public awareness by educating people about water conservation, pollution prevention, and the significance of clean water, fostering responsible behaviours and environmental stewardship.
Furthermore, she has become a member of WWP to enhance her communication skills by involving communities in water projects through educational and outreach events, promoting collaboration, empowering local stakeholders, and ensuring that projects align with the needs and priorities of the served communities. Additionally, these activities contribute to her knowledge achievement and the expansion of her interests. However, Fatin’s interests extend beyond academia which she is also a passionate nature enthusiast who derives pleasure from captivating the beautiful surrounding through photography and videography. She enjoys editing videos and sharing the final cuts on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and others, cherishing them as memories.
