30th April 2022: Water Watch Penang has conducted a water education talk on ‘Negalitres For Schools Programmes, River and Water Education Programme’ for secondary school students in Penang via Zoom.
The programme was attended by a total of 14 participants from SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian (1 teacher and 15 students), and the facilitator involved in giving a talk that day was Dr. Hong Chern Wern, from Water Watch Penang.
The program’s goal was to educate the students about the necessity of proper water consumption, as well as current water issues around the world, including in Malaysia. The topics covered during the talk included the introduction to Water Watch Penang, global, national, and local water issues, river and water monitoring and assessment, and how to save water, which was divided into two topics: water conservation and ways to save water at school and at home. The students were also taught how to utilise the PBAPP water-saving kit and how to interpret water bills as part of the program’s classroom activities.
At the end of the programme, students participated in a game in which they had to answer a series of questions to select the winner. This programme is brought to you by CLEAN International and Intel Corporation and coordinated by Water Watch Penang.
