World Water Day 2010

This year, World Water Day 2010 was celebrated on 3rd April 2010 (Saturday) at Penang Botanic gardens. As usual, the Penang Chief Minister Tuan Lim Guan Eng was our Guest of Honour, together with General Manager of PBAPP Sdn Bhd, Y.Bhg. Ir Jaseni Maidinsa, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Dr . Lee Yow Ching, Y.Bhg. Datuk Seri Lim Chong Keat, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ong Hean Tee, and other VIPs. Our President, Prof dr Chan Ngai Weng gave his a welcoming speech, followed by the PBA GM and the Honourable Chief Minister. The Chief Minister advised all Penangites to save water. He also gave away prizes to winners of the painting competition. Many schools also gave performances such as dancing, drama, pantun and siinging on the water theme. WWP also had plenty of activities including Water painting competition, water games, writing of water “pledges”, children dancing performanes, water guessing games, water exhibitions, free gifts, etc. The 500 odd visitors, parents and children who attended the WWD celebrations thoroughly enjoyed the festivities. The programme ran from 7.00am to 5.00pm at the Band Stand inside Penang Botanic Gardens. The PBA also opened its Waterfall Water Treatment Plant for public visit.
