In conjunction of World Water Day 2021, students from 5 secondary schools in Klang Valley participated in a forum/video presentation as a pre-warmup to the Phase 2 Water Genius Challenge. The students demonstrated their talent in producing short video and oral presentations focusing on this year’s theme, ‘Valuing Water’ by explaining ‘What Does Water Mean to You?’.
The event continued with sharing session on Water Audit for schools and home with the hope that the students and teachers would apply the knowledge in reducing daily water consumption.
The Water Genius Challenge is a ‘Water Demand Management’ based competition organised in partnership between Water Watch Penang and Salcon Berhad with the support of Malaysia Ministry of Education, Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara, International Network for Capacity Development in Sustainable Water Management (Cap-Net) and The Malaysian Capacity Development Network for Sustainable Water Management (MyCDNet). The competition will span over 6 months for participating schools, under the supervision of teachers, led by students to reduce water consumption in schools via creative water demand management as well integration of environmental education into school’s curriculum and school-wide participation.
