WWP-MPSP "Agenda 21 - River & Water Awareness & Monitoring Programme for Schools in Seberang Perai", 22 August 2009
A total of 20 secondary students will be taken to the Penang Botanic Gardens to learn the importance of protecting the water catchment and the catchment environment, the importance of trees and forests as water catchment, importance of rivers, role of water catchments, functions of forests, and learn about various ways to monitor the quality of the rivers via physical, chemical and biological indicators. The participants will also learn about the water treatment process when visiting the PBA's Waterfall Water Treatment Plant, Malaysia's oldest water treatment plant. The activity is sponsored by the Penang Municipal Council of Seberang Perai (MPSP) under its Agenda 21 Programme and is co-organised by Water Watch Penang. This is a good example of Government-NGO Smart-Partnership.
